DELEWARE, OHIO -- The University of Cincinnati men's cross country team placed second and the women fifth at the All-Ohio Championships on Friday.

Andy Wietmarschen led a strong pack for UC, finishing fifth in a time of 26:18, posting the fastest time for a Cincinnati runner this year. Eric Bair was just two spots behind, tying the previous fastest time (26:26) and Taylor Garvin finished just five behind him in 12th place (26:37).

?Our top-five pack was only 13 places and 26 seconds apart,? head coach Bill Schnier said. ?It was a tight pack and also a really good pack. I think we did really well.?

Ruth Limo was the top runner on the women?s side, placing seventh in a time of 18:34, beating her previous best time of the year by nine seconds. Freshman Cristy Doll was the second on the team with a 36th place finish (19:26). Abi Hamrick finished third for Cincinnati placing 47th in 19:36.

?We did great,? Schnier added. ?This is the first time all year that we?ve had all of the five top runners run. The score and effort reflect that, and we are excited about the future.?

Other finishers for the Bearcats on the women?s side were 51. Jennifer Limle, 19:39; 56. Karen Berling, 19:48; 96. Jocelyn Gibson, 20:23; 174. Dominique Lopez-Stickney, 21:41.

On the men?s side the other finishers were, 17. Brad Neumann, 26.43; 18. Eric Stender, 26:44; 26. Mike Smith, 26:57; Eric Mayhaus, 27:39.

Cincinnati returns to action Saturday at the Illini Challenge.
