CINCINNATI, Ohio---Three Bearcats are tied for second after day one of the UC/UD Men?s Golf Invitational, held Monday at Clovernook Country Club in Cincinnati.
Juniors John Clodfelder and Adam Fluty, along with sophomore Geoff Newman all fired three over par rounds of 73 to help UC to second place in the team standings. Cincinnati shot a combined total of 297 and trail IUPUI by just a single stroke.
Freshman Luke Underhill, making his first collegiate appearance, was also solid for UC, tying for 15th with a round of 77. Underhill is playing the tournament as an individual.
Drew Shafer of IUPUI leads the race for medalist honors after carding an opening round 71.
The UC/UD Golf Invitational will wrap up on Tuesday with the final 18 holes of play. The University of Dayton will serve as host for the finale, being held at The Golf Club at Yankee Trace in Centerville.
