CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The University of Cincinnati men's basketball team will honor its 1961 National Championship season by donning throwback uniforms for the first time when it hosts BIG EAST Conference foe Notre Dame on Feb. 18 at Fifth Third Arena.

The letters, numerals and trim emulate the home uniforms worn by Cincinnati's first national championship team. Trimmed in black and red, the jersey bears Cincinnati arced across the front in black lettering, outlined in red. The numbers appear in black. The shorts are trimmed with red, black and white piping.

Under the direction of first-year head coach Ed Jucker, co-captains Carl Bouldin and All-America Bob Wiesenhahn led UC to a 27-3 record and the first of back-to-back national titles. UC won 22-consecutive games, garnering a league title and a then-unprecedented third straight trip to the Final Four. The magical 1960-61 campaign culminated with a 70-65 overtime win over Ohio State in the championship game of the NCAA Tournament in Kansas City, Mo.

UC entertains St. John's in a BIG EAST matchup this Sunday, Feb. 4 at noon.
