CINCINNATI-- The University of Cincinnati and head coach Brian Kelly begin preparations for the 2007 football campaign on Friday, Aug. 3.
Kelly welcomes 105 players to his first preseason camp when the Bearcats report beginning at Noon on Wednesday, Aug. 1. The players will be involved in a series of orientation meetings on Thursday, Aug. 2, with position meetings taking place during the evening.
Beginning with the first practice on Friday, Aug. 3, and building through the acclimatization period, the Bearcats will conduct one-a-day sessions for the first five days of the preseason. They will be outfitted in partial uniforms at 3:05 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4, and Monday, Aug. 5.
UC's first two-a-day workouts take place on Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 9:05 a.m. and again at 3:05 p.m. The team will conduct a total of 11 practices before departing for its preseason training camp at the Higher Ground Conference Center in West Harrison, Ind. on Monday. UC's first full-contact workout will take on Tuesday's afternoon.
Media interested in attending practices at Nippert Stadium or Higher Ground should contact Kelby Siler in the Sports Communications Office to request a credential. Non-credentialed media and spectators will be asked to view practice from designated areas at Nippert Stadium and/or Higher Ground.
The tempo at practice will be quick as Kelly and staff prepare the Bearcats for their first full season together. The team boasts 51 lettermen and 15 starters returning from a year ago.
Media Day gets started on Tuesday, August 7 at 10 a.m. with the 2007 team photo. Players will be made available to the media approximately 30 minutes later. Coach Kelly will field questions from the media at 11 a.m.
The Bearcats will hold a total of 29 practices before kicking off the 2007 season on August 30, when Cincinnati entertains Southeast Missouri State at Nippert Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
