Terry McAulay Interview

CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati football team closed out its first week of spring practice with a two-hour workout, the fourth of 15 for the defending BIG EAST Conference Champions, under sunny skies Saturday at Nippert Stadium.

UC was in pads for the second-straight day, closing out practice with a brief scrimmage that included officials. Wide receiver Danny Milligan made a nice grab off a Chazz Anderson pass and turned it into a touchdown.

Quarterback Tony Pike added a rushing touchdown, finding the corner on an eight-yard scamper. Pike also connected with wideout Vidal Hazelton for a nice gain. Hazelton joined the Bearcats this week after transferring from the University of Southern California.

Head coach Brian Kelly was pleased with the team's efforts at the end of the first week.

"We got a lot of stuff installed in the first week for our defensive package," Kelly said. "Our kids did a great job of really picking things up. Offensively, clearly we've got a QB back in Tony Pike which makes things a lot smoother for us.

"I'm pleased that we got a lot of things done and got a chance to work some guys in like Vidal Hazelton, Isaiah Pead, and Darrin Williams. Guys we needed to answer what they're about. I like it because it gives me a chance to do some more evaluating of the younger players."

Terry McAulay, the BIG EAST Coordinator of Football Officiating, was in attendance at practice Saturday, addressing the Bearcats prior to the beginning of their workout. He also took time out to chat with GoBEARCATS.com. Fans can see the interview by clicking HERE.
