CINCINNATI - A pair of former University of Cincinnati linebackers, Troy Evans and Tyjuan Hagler, will square off Sunday in Super Bowl XLIV at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Fla.
Evans (1999-2000) is a linebacker with the New Orleans Saints and Hagler (2002-04) is a linebacker with the Indianapolis Colts. Hagler was placed on the injured reserve list in November and will not play Sunday.
Evans is in his third season with the Saints and eighth in the NFL. He has played in all 18 games this season and is one of the top special teams players on the Saints and provides veteran depth to the linebacker corps. His career totals include 146 career tackles, three fumble recoveries and an interception.
Hagler, in his fourth season with the Colts, started seven games at linebacker before being placed on injured reserve on Nov. 4 with an arm injury. His season totals include 36 tackles, 18 solo stops, and three passes defended. He led the team with 11 tackles against Jacksonville on Sept. 13, his third career 10-plus tackle game. He has 139 career tackles.
