Here's what's coming up this week in Cincinnati sports:
- The football team will take on Louisville at 8 p.m. Friday in Louisville, Ky. This is the Bearcats' first BIG EAST Conference game this season, and will be televised on ESPN. UC is 2-3 this season.
- The cross country team will take part in the Pre-Nationals meet Saturday in Terre Haute, Ind.
- The men's golf team will host the UC Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at Traditions Golf Club.
- The women's golf team will compete in the Prices Give Em Five Classic Monday through Wednesday in Las Cruces, N.M.
- The men's soccer team will compete in two BIG EAST conference matches this week. The Bearcats will come home to take on No. 1/3 Louisville at 7 p.m. Wednesday, at Gettler Stadium in a battle for first place in the BIG EAST's Red Division. They will then play Seton Hall at 7 p.m. Saturday in South Orange, N.J. UC is 5-3-3 (3-0-0 BIG EAST).
- The women's soccer team will take on No. 23 Marquette at 7 p.m. Friday in Milwaukee, Wis. Cincinnati will play USF at 1 p.m. Sunday in Tampa. Fla. Both games are BIG EAST match ups. Cincinnati is now 7-6-1 (2-5 BIG EAST).
- The women's tennis team will compete in the ITA Regionals Thursday-Sunday in Knoxville, Tenn.
- The No. 21 women's volleyball team will match up against Louisville (9-5, 4-1 BIG EAST) at 2 p.m. Saturday in Louisville, Ky. Cincinnati is 17-3 and alone in first place in the BIG EAST at 6-0.

Bearcats and the Community:
- The men's and women's basketball teams will officially launch the 2010-11 season on Tuesday, Oct. 12 with a UC Basketball Pep Rally on Fountain Square in downtown Cincinnati between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. A full slate of activities including autographs, raffles and comments from head coaches Mick Cronin and Jamelle Elliott are planned.
- UC's Homecoming is set this year for Saturday, Oct. 30. The exact time and schedule for game-day festivities will depend on the determination of kickoff time for the Syracuse-UC football game at Nippert Stadium. That decision has yet to be finalized by the BIG EAST Conference and its broadcast partners but game time will be announced on Monday, Oct. 18. - The University of Cincinnati, its Department of Athletics and the UC Alumni Association will hold a UC Basketball Tip-off Luncheon on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010 at 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in at the Great Hall of the Tangeman University Center. The Tip-off luncheon will begin a two-year celebration of the 50th Anniversaries of the school's 1960-61 and 1961-62 NCAA National Championships. Tickets for the Tip-off Luncheon are $30 per person or $200 for a table of eight in advance.
- Keep voting for the Bearcat in the Mascot National Championship. Visit www.capitalonebowl.com daily to vote.
In case you missed it:
- The football team came back from a week off to defeat Miami (OH) 45-3 last Saturday at Nippert Stadium. The Bearcats have now won five straight in the series against Miami, which has been contested 115 times since 1888.
- The men's golf team finished sixth at the Telich/Sunlife Financial Invitational last Monday at Canterbury Golf Course. UC shot rounds of 295-303=598 to finish six shots ahead of Northern Illinois (302-302=604) before the third round was canceled due to inclement weather on Tuesday.
- The men's soccer team fell to Michigan last Wednesday, 2-0, at the UM Soccer Stadium. The Bearcats then came back to defeat No. 22 St. Johns last Saturday, 2-0, at Belson Stadium in Jamaica, N.Y.
- The women's soccer team lost, 3-1, to visiting Georgetown in a BIG EAST Conference match last Friday at Gettler Stadium. The Bearcats finished the weekend by defeating Villanova last Sunday 3-2 in double overtime in their last home match of the regular season at Gettler Stadium.
- The women's volleyball team won both of its matches last weekend to increase their winning streak to 10 straight matches. UC first defeated DePaul in a 3-0 sweep last Friday at Fifth Third Arena. The Bearcats then went on to sweep Notre Dame 3-0 before a nationally-televised audience last Sunday, for their 10th straight win this season.
