CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati student-athlete Dan Jensen (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) was named the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday.
In his lone start of the week Friday at Georgetown University, Jensen pitched his first career complete game and struck-out a career-high 11 batters. The senior right-handed pitcher surrendered just one unearned run in nine innings pitched to lead Cincinnati to a 3-1 win over the Hoyas.
On the season, Jensen leads the Bearcats in earned run average (2.14), innings pitched (41.0), and strikeouts (36). His ERA (sixth) and strikeout total (tied for seventh) both currently rank in the BIG EAST top 10.
Jensen is the third Bearcat this season to receive weekly honors from the BIG EAST. Senior RHP Nick Johnson (March 14) and senior OF Justin Riddell (March 7) were both named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
Cincinnati, which is coming off a three-game sweep of Georgetown, travels to Morehead State University for a 6:30 p.m. ET game on Wednesday before hosting University of Louisville for a three-game series at Marge Schott Stadium beginning Friday.
