CINCINNATI - The 2012 edition of the University of Cincinnati Student-Athlete Advisory Committee's Gatorade Pong tournament, the fourth annual such event, was the most successful to date, raising over $3,000 for Mothers Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.).

One hundred nineteen two-person teams entered the tournament, held in UC's historic Armory Fieldhouse. "The Playmakers" won the championship and the $500 prize that accompanied.

Entrants were provided with pizza, chips, and a raffle ticket. Raffle prizes included an Xbox 360 console with Kinect, Beats by Dre headphones, gift cards to local restaurants, UC gear, a handmade UC coffee table and tailgating table, and more.

Bearcast Radio was on hand spinning tunes throughout the evening, which was attended by a host of student-athletes, coaches, support staff, and athletics administrators along with the general student populace.

The mission of UC's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is to assess and advise on the needs for expanded education for student-athletes on various topics such as leadership training, career planning, and NCAA legislation, to encourage teams to support all other teams through attendance at competitions, to explore and encourage development of community outreach programs, to enhance communication between the athletic department administration and the student-athlete population, to share SAAC meeting information with teammates and coaches after each meeting in a timely manner and solicit feedback when appropriate, and to abide by all established University policies and regulations governing student organizations and their welfare.
