CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati department of athletics and UCATS welcomed another record crowd for the annual riverboat cruise Tuesday night.

The 29th Annual UCATS Riverboats Cruise, with nearly 800 UCATS members in attendance, featured a two-hour trip up and down the Ohio River aboard the BB Riverboats Belle of Cincinnati.

"This is one of our signature events," Director of Athletics Whit Babcock said. "It was a great night and our donors came out in record numbers. I can't thank our UCATS members, BB Riverboats and the Bernstein family enough for making the evening possible."

The event was an opportunity for UC coaches and staff to show its appreciation to donors while enjoying the fellowship and fun in a non-athletics event setting.

"The evening was a great success," Women's Basketball Head Coach Jamelle Elliott said. Our staff always loves the opportunity to meet and speak with people passionate about UC and Bearcats athletics. Our donors and supporters have been and always will be vital to our success."

Following dinner, supporters were able to interact with coaches and listen to Firelight, an acoustic duo led by UC football radio analyst and former standout student-athlete Jim Kelly Jr.

"What a perfect way to spend time getting to know our athletic department supporters," Football Head Coach Tommy Tuberville said. "We appreciate all that they do to provide the resources we need to compete on the field and in the classroom."

UCATS, through the generosity of its donors, provides the resources needed for Bearcats student-athletes to achieve in the classroom, in competition and in the community. With their contributions, UCATS members play a key role in the department of athletics' pursuit of comprehensive excellence.

"Our coaching staff had a wonderful time at the UCATS Boat Ride last night," Volleyball Head Coach Molly Alvey said. "The weather was beautiful, the music was great, and socializing with our donors and fans was so incredibly enjoyable and fun. We appreciate the record number of donors who came out to the event and have showed tremendous fan support for all of the Bearcats programs throughout the year. It was a fantastic event."
