CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati baseball head coach Ty Neal has set winter camp dates as part of his Bearcats Baseball Camp series. All winter camps will be conducted in the friendly climate of the indoor Sheakley Athletic Complex located behind Marge Schott Stadium on the University of Cincinnati campus.
Beginning on Tuesday, December 16, Coach Neal and his staff will conduct three nights of developmental camps designed to improve individual baseball skills. These camps are specifically designed to mechanically break down all facets of a player's game.
Tuesday, December 16, will focus on offensive work. Our offensive camp is designed to educate campers on the basics of becoming a well versed offensive player including base running, situational hitting, bunting, and the basics of being a good hitter. Campers will be drilled on the basic fundamentals that the Bearcats use on a daily basis.
Wednesday, December 17, will focus on infield and outfield play. Our defensive camp will allow campers an opportunity to learn the basic steps of becoming a quality infielder and outfielder.
Thursday, December 18, will focus on pitching and catching development. The pitching portion of camp will demonstrate campers on the basic techniques that have afforded several of Coach Neal's pupils to develop into professional pitchers while the catchers will learn how to be the leader on the field and create a presence with their actions of receiving, blocking, and throwing.
Each camp session costs $160 and will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with discounted prices for attending multiple camps and/or a parent being an employee of the university.
On Saturday, December 20, Coach Neal and his staff will conduct their second Exposure Camp. Our Exposure Camp allows players to receive instruction and be evaluated on their baseball skills and potential for college play. The clinic is open to high school players (graduation years 2015-18) and junior college players. It will feature quality instruction along with a pro-style workout and evaluation by the Cincinnati Baseball coaching staff, in addition to being placed in competitive situations on the field. Participants are encouraged to register early, as space is limited. The cost of the exposure camp is $160.
To finish our December winter camps, youth camp is scheduled for Monday, December 22, through Tuesday, December 23, running from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., each day. The winter youth camp, designed with the younger Bearcat in mind, allows campers aged 6-10 to learn the very basic fundamentals in a learning and fun atmosphere to create further interest in the game of baseball. The cost of youth camp is $225.
