CINCINNATI - The American Athletic Conference announced its first swimming and diving weekly honors for the 2017-18 year with University of Cincinnati student-athletes taking three of the four accolades.
The Bearcats swept diving honors as Claire Schuermann was named Women's Diver of the Week and Mitch Godar was named Men's Diver of the Week. Zach Hostoffer was recognized as the Men's Swimmer of the Week.
Schuermann and Godar both qualified for NCAA Zones after their performances at Indianapolis this past Friday. Schuermann won both her events, scoring a 267.60 in the 1-meter and a 256.25 in the 3-meter competition. Both dives cracked the top ten in program history.
Godar placed first in the 1-meter with a score of 335.05. That mark was the third highest in Bearcats history. In the 3-meter he finished third with a 235.13.
Hostoffer got his season off to a good start with a win and three second place finishes on Friday. He had the best time in the 100 breaststroke at a pace of 55:93. He also competed in the 200 breaststroke where his time of 2:08:55 was good for second place. The Bearcats placed second in both the 400 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay. Hostoffer swam a leg in both of those events.

The Bearcats host their first meets of the season at Keating Aquatics Center on Friday, October 20 and Saturday, October 21. UC hosts Cleveland State followed by South Carolina in back-to-back dual meets.
