University of Cincinnati volleyball Head Coach Molly Alvey has released the team's 2019 schedule, featuring seven matches against fellow 2018 NCAA Tournament opponents and eleven home matches at Fifth Third Arena.
 
Once again the Bearcats will face top competition from around the country in the first few weeks of non-conference action before vying for an American Athletic Conference title later on. New to 2019, the AAC will host a postseason tournament with the winner receiving an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. In previous years the regular season champion received the automatic bid. The AAC Tournament will be held at the site of the previous season's champion; it will take place in Orlando in 2019.
 
Fans' first chance to see the 2019 Bearcats will be Wednesday, August 21 on home court in an exhibition against Butler at 6 p.m.
 
The official season is set to begin with the Panther Challenge in Pittsburgh. UC will face South Carolina, Pittsburgh and Cleveland State on Friday, August 30 and Saturday, August 31. The host Panthers finished last season ranked No. 7 in RPI and No. 14 in the national rankings after winning the ACC. The Gamecocks were also a NCAA Tournament team.
 
The following weekend, UC will travel to Michigan State to for matches with Tennessee, Michigan State and Indiana State. UC will play twice on Friday, September 6 and one match on Saturday, September 7. The Vols were a nationally-ranked program in 2018 and earned a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Regional.
 
The Bearcats return to the tri-state area to continue action Friday, September 13 and Saturday, September 14. UC will take on Notre Dame and Ball State at NKU before playing the host Norse Saturday evening.
 
The annual Queen City Classic is set for September 19-21. The marquee match with rival Xavier will be Thursday, September 19 at 6 p.m. at the Cintas Center. UC will then host Bowling Green on Saturday, September 21 at noon. The final match before conference play will be an afternoon contest with Louisville at Fifth Third Arena on Sunday, September 22. The Cards reached the 2018 NCAA Tournament last season and received votes in the final rankings of the year.
 
AAC play will begin at home in 2019 when the Bearcats face ECU on Friday, September 27 at 7 p.m. UC will then travel for a highly-anticipated match at Wichita State that Sunday.
 
UC returns home Friday, October 4 and Sunday, October 6 to host UCF and USF, respectively. The team then travels the next two weekends, first to UConn and Temple (October 11 and 13) and then to Tulane and Houston (October 18 and 20).
 
Action returns to Fifth Third Arena when the Bearcats host Memphis and SMU the weekend of October 25-27. Those two matches begin a five-match homestand as Dayton visits Wednesday, October 30 at 7 p.m. Temple and UConn make the trip to Cincinnati November 1 and 3.
 
The Bearcats will play three of their final four regular season matches on the road, traveling to Florida for USF and UCF November 8 and 10 and then to ECU on Friday, November 15. The regular season will conclude at home against Tulsa on Sunday, November 17.
 
The 2019 AAC Tournament is set for November 22-24 at UCF in Orlando, Florida. The first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament will be December 5-7. This year's finals will be held in Pittsburgh, Pa., December 19 and 21.
