CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team returns to American Athletic Conference play this week as the Bearcats travel to Tampa, Fla. to take on the University of South Florida inside the Corral. The two-day matchup will take place Thursday and Friday with tip-off at 4 p.m. both days.
Coming off a 3-0 set sweep at Northern Kentucky University, the Bearcats look for a momentum shift going into the second half of the season. The Bearcats will close out the remainder of their season with six conference games.
MATCH HISTORY
The last time the Bearcats and the Bulls faced off was over a year ago in Tampa, Fla., where Cincinnati swept USF 3-0. The Bearcats hold a commanding 17-4 series lead over USF, looking to extend their current win streak of four this weekend. The last time Cincinnati fell to USF in Tampa was over six years ago in 2014 on a narrow 2-3 USF victory.
THE BREAKDOWN
Entering this week's conference play, Cincinnati currently remains tied atop the AAC East Division alongside the University of Central Florida at 2-0.
Cincinnati continues to lead the AAC in Kills per set and assists per set, averaging 14.32 and 13.52 through 25 sets respectively.
Ashley Kozer also continues to lead the AAC in Assists/s averaging 11.46 on 275 total assists through 24 sets.
Joining Kozer atop the AAC individual standings is Kerstin Ficker. Ficker currently leads the AAC in services aces per set at 0.43, totaling 10 of the Bearcats 41 Services aces.
Sharing the AAC Top-5 in aces per set with Ficker is Maria Tobergte (No.3) and Kozer (No.4). Tobergte and Kozer have both accumulated nine total services aces, with Tobergte ranking one slot higher on a two-set advantage. Tobergte has accumulated a .41 average through 22 sets while Kozer sits at a .38 average through 24 sets.
In AAC Conference play, Adria Oliver holds the highest hitting percentage at .447 through 47 total attempts with 26 kills and only five errors.
