HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - University of Cincinnati Assistant Director of Athletics/Sports Medicine Jeff Carrico will be inducted into the Marshall University Sports Medicine Hall of Fame in a ceremony to be held on Saturday, Feb. 28, during a dinner banquet on campus.

Carrico joined the UC sports medicine staff in August of 2007 after spending 10 years at Marshall, the final eight of which he spent as the head athletic trainer for the Herd. Carrico's pedigree includes a National Athletic Trainer's Association certification - an association in which he is a member - as well as an Instructor for Basic Life Support certification and a College Athletic Trainer Society membership.

"It is a great honor to be inducted into the Marshall Sports Medicine Hall of Fame," Carrico said. "Dr. Jose Ricard built a wonderful sports medicine program and I had the privilege to learn from him. Marshall University is a special place. I enjoyed my years working with Dr. Ricard and the sports medicine team."

The dinner, sponsored by Cabell Huntington Hospital, will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the John Marshall Room of the Marshall University Memorial Student Center. Team physicians Dr. Warren Mitchel Shaver and Dr. Robert W. Lowe are also being inducted at the event. The dinner will be held in honor of Ricard, who died in July of 2008. Tickets for the event are $25 per person and are available through the Marshall University Athletic Ticket office.

The three honorees will also be recognized during halftime of the Marshall University men's basketball game against UCF at 7 p.m. on Feb. 28.
