CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati head football coach Brian Kelly is scheduled to serves as the keynote speaker for the Salvation Army's 53rd-Annual Civic & Awards Luncheon. The event will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at The Millennium Hotel in downtown Cincinnati. The program begins at Noon, with a VIP Reception preceding the luncheon program.
The theme for this year's luncheon is `Reaching New Heights.' This reflects the accomplishments coach Kelly has achieved with UC's football program this past year. As well, it reflects the mission of The Salvation Army as it seeks to support the less fortunate in our community every day.
UC went 11-3 during last year's historic run to the 75th FedEx Orange Bowl, winning the school's first BIG EAST Championship in football, and earning a post-season ranking of No. 17 in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches polls.
"We are delighted to have coach Kelly as our keynote speaker, "said Major Ronald Foreman, Divisional Commander for The Salvation Army. "Coach Kelly is well-regarded not only for his skills on the field, but as a leader who exemplifies the importance of `reaching new heights' both personally and professionally. The Salvation Army is very grateful to coach Kelly for his support."
"The Annual Luncheon is an important fundraising activity for the local Salvation Army," said Matt Pearce, Development Director. "We are very grateful to have Baker Concrete Construction as the Presenting Sponsor of the event. I encourage those that would like to hear Coach Kelly, while providing greatly-needed support to The Salvation Army, to contact us to reserve their seats."
