CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati currently boasts 15 former student-athletes on NFL rosters. Here's how each former Bearcat performed in week 17 of the 2012 NFL regular season along with their regular season statistics.
OLB Connor Barwin (Houston Texans) 12/30/12 at Indianapolis Colts - Recorded four tackles in a 28-16 loss in the Texans' regular season finale. Barwin started in each of the Texans' sixteen games this season and has posted 44 tackles while adding three sacks. The Texans are the No.3 seed in the AFC where they will play the No. 6 seed Cincinnati Bengals in the first round of the playoffs.
WR Armon Binns (Miami Dolphins) 12/30/12 at New England Patriots - Saw action and recorded three catches for 40 yards in a 28-0 loss. Was waived by the Cincinnati Bengals on Dec. 8 and was awarded to the Dolphins off waivers on Dec. 10. The Dolphins are Binns' third team in two seasons, with previous stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars and most recently the Cincinnati Bengals. While with the Bengals, Binns made five starts at wide receiver and pulled in eighteen receptions for 210 yards and one touchdown.
TE Brent Celek (Philadelphia Eagles) 12/30/12 at New York Giants - Did not play in a 23-21 win. Celek started fifteen of the Eagles' sixteen games this season while recording 57 receptions for a total of 684 receiving yards. He also added one touchdown. The Eagles finished the season at 4-12.
DE Trent Cole (Philadelphia Eagles) 12/30/12 at New York Giants - Made his seventeenth start of the season and tallied three tackles in a 42-7 loss. Cole has started in all sixteen of the Eagles' games this season and has totaled 60 tackles, three sacks and one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. The Eagles finished the season at 4-12.
WR Mardy Gilyard (New York Jets) 12/09/12 at Jacksonville Jaguars - Was waived on Dec.11 by the Jets. Gilyard recorded two receptions for fifteen yards for the Jaguars. Was released by the Philadelphia Eagles on Nov. 23 after recording three special teams tackles and returning two punts. The Jets finished the year with a 6-10 record.
WR Vidal Hazelton (Cincinnati Bengals) - Was signed to the Bengals practice squad on Dec. 4. Hazelton is making his second appearance with the Bengals' practice squad after signing with the team late last season, but was waived early this season. The wide receiver also has practice squad stints with the Tennessee Titans earlier this season, and with the San Diego Chargers to begin last season. The Bengals finished the regular season at 10-6 and enter the playoffs as the No. 6 seed in the AFC where they will face the No. 3 seed Houston Texans in the first round.
P Kevin Huber (Cincinnati Bengals) 12/30/12 vs. Baltimore Ravens - Punted seven times for 330 yards, with a 47.1-yard average and a net average of 43.4 yards while also pinning four punts inside the 20-yard line in a 23-17 win. Huber played in all sixteen regular season games this season and has punted 76 times with a 46.6-yard average and a net average of 42.0 yards, as well as placing 33 punts inside the 20-yard line. The Bengals finished the regular season at 10-6 and enter the playoffs as the No. 6 seed in the AFC where they will face the No. 3 seed Houston Texans in the first round.
DT John Hughes (Cleveland Browns) 12/30/12 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers - Saw action in a 24-10 loss. Hughes played in each of the Browns' sixteen regular season games this season, gaining two starts at defensive tackle, and has tallied 34 tackles, including his three sacks. Cleveland finished the year at 5-11.
OT Jeff Linkenbach (Indianapolis Colts) 12/30/12 vs. Houston Texans - Saw action in a 28-16 win. Linkenbach played in sixteen of the Colts' regular season games this season, including eight starts at offensive tackle. The Colts enter the playoffs as the No. 5 seed in the AFC after an 11-5 season and will face the No. 4 seed Baltimore Ravens in the opening round of the NFL playoffs.
DT Ricardo Mathews (Indianapolis Colts) 12/30/12 vs. Houston Texans - Started at defensive tackle recording one tackle and one pass defended in a 28-16 win. Mathews has played in sixteen games this season, including five starts, and has totaled thirteen tackles. The Colts enter the playoffs as the No. 5 seed in the AFC after an 11-5 season and will face the No. 4 seed Baltimore Ravens in the opening round of the NFL playoffs.
FS Haruki Nakamura (Carolina Panthers) 12/30/12 at New Orleans Saints - Placed on injury reserve on 12/11/12. Nakamura has started thirteen games this season for the Panthers and has posted 54 tackles to go along with two interceptions. The Panthers finished the year with a 7-9 record.
RB Isaiah Pead (St. Louis Rams) 12/30/12 at Seattle Seahawks - Saw action at running back making five rushes for 21 yards in a 13-20 loss. Pead played in 15 games this season, including one start, and has caught three passes for 16 yards, rushed ten times for 54 yards and returned ten kicks for 212 yards. The Rams finished the season at 7-8-1.
TE Adrien Robinson (New York Giants) 12/30/12 vs. Philadelphia Eagles - Was inactive in a 42-7 win. Robinson saw action in two games this season for the Giants who finished the season with a 9-7 record.
LS Mike Windt (San Diego Chargers) - Was placed on the reserve/injured list by the Chargers on Nov. 20. Windt played in 10 of the Chargers' 16 games this season at long snapper and totaled three tackles. San Diego finished the season with a win-loss record of 7-9.
DL Derek Wolfe (Denver Broncos) 12/30/12 at Oakland Raiders - Started at defensive end and tallied two tackles, a sack for a loss of five yards and defended one pass in a 38-3 win. Wolfe has started all 16 games this season for the Broncos and has totaled 40 tackles, along with six sacks. The Broncos finished the regular season with a 13-3 record and the No.1 seed in the AFC where they will have a first round bye.
