Complete List of Cape League All-Stars
CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati baseball player Ian Happ (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) was selected to the Friendly's Cape Cod League 2014 All-Star Game as announced by the league on July 19. Happ, who finished his sophomore season at UC this spring, was selected to the game for the second straight season and will start in right field for the East Division.
The All-Star game will feature 25 players from both the East and West Divisions with 10 starters and 15 reserves for each team. The game will be played on Sunday, July 27 at Doran Park in Bourne, Massachusetts.
Happ is playing his second season as a member of the Harwich Mariners and has been named an All-Star starter in each of his two seasons in the prestigious Cape Cod League. This season, Happ has recorded a .309 batting average with 34 hits in 110 at bats. He is tied for second in the league with 20 RBIs and has also accumulated 17 runs, 10 doubles, three homeruns, 18 walks and eight stolen bases.
The sophomore is one of only three repeat all-stars on the 2014 roster, joining Kevin Newman (University of Arizona) and Jake Fincher (North Carolina State University) who will both start for the West Division.
Happ's Mariners currently sit atop the East Division standings with a 19-11-2 record. The Cape Cod League playoffs will begin on Tuesday, Aug. 8 with the championship series beginning on Monday, Aug. 11.
