2017-18 Schedule
CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati women's golf's 2017-18 schedule was announced Monday by head coach Janet Carl. The Bearcats will split 12 total tournaments – six in both the fall and spring – highlighted by hosting the Losantiville Challenge on Sept. 5.
An overall challenging schedule, the Bearcats will play in four tournaments hosted by teams who ranked among the top 75 in this past season's NCAA Division I Golfstat rankings. UC will put on a one-day, 36-hole event to begin the fall season when it hosts the Losantiville Challenge on Tuesday, Sept. 5 at Losantiville Country Club. Stay tuned to GoBearcats.com for more information regarding the event in the coming weeks.
"I'm excited for this season and this schedule," said head coach Janet Carl. "We have four new venues that we will prepare for this year. Again, we are working on increasing our strength of schedule. We will have a young squad and this will give us a good blend of events. In addition, it will be a good opportunity to see our team against some top teams."
UC will follow up the Losantiville Challenge with a trip to Williamsburg, Virginia to play in the William & Mary Invitational, Sept. 10-11. Two weeks later, the Bearcats will wrap up September at the East Carolina Pirate Collegiate Classic in Greenville, North Carolina, Sept. 25-26.
In October, UC will participate in the Kentucky/Indiana Bettie Lou Evans Invitational, Oct. 6-8, in Lexington, Kentucky, the Florida International Pat Bradley Golf Tournament, Oct. 22-24, in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, and the Mercer Idle Hour Collegiate Championship, Oct. 30-31, in Macon, Georgia.
After a near-four-month layoff, the Bearcats will pick back up with the spring season Feb. 19-20 at the Jacksonville Amelia Island Collegiate in Fernandina Beach, Florida. UC will return to the Jacksonville area two weeks later to participate in the North Florida Collegiate, March 5-6.
The Red & Black will then head West to compete in the Bradley Invitational, March 12-12, in Dallas, Texas, the Notre Dame Clover Cup, March 16-18, in Mesa, Arizona, and close the regular season with the Tulsa Dale McNamara Invitational, April 9-10, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The American Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championship will be held April 15-17 at Hammock Beach Resort & Golf Club in Palm Coast, Florida. The Bearcats will look to continue their progression from last season when they recorded their highest-ever finish at The American Championship with a tie for fifth place.
UC will return six golfers this season including its lowest scorer from last year in senior Christina Gloor (Mattstetten, Switzerland/ESC La Neuveville) who shot an average of 75.5 during 31 rounds of play. Rising junior Anika Hitt (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) also returns after ending last season on a strong note with a tie for 13th place at The American Championship. UC will also welcome arguably the strongest recruiting class in the program's history with the additions of Angela Lopez (Bogotá, Colombia), Vanessa Manrique (Bogotá, Colombia), and Amalia Shahzan (Kedah, Malaysia).
