CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati track and field team will play host to the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational on Friday, April 5 and Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Coy Field and Gettler Stadium.
The meet is free and open to the public. There are a number of additional events occurring on campus Saturday in alignment with UC's Community Day. For more information on those events, please click HERE. Parking is available in Calhoun Garage at $5 per vehicle.
Coy Field will be the site for all of Friday's action with the men's javelin getting things underway at 10 a.m. ET. The women's javelin will follow at 11:45 a.m. followed by the men's hammer throw at 2 p.m. and the women's hammer at 4:15 p.m. UC senior Annette Echikunwoke, the 2017 NCAA Indoor Weight Throw Champion and a USTFCCCA First-Team All-America honoree in the hammer throw, is scheduled to throw for the Bearcats.
Coy Field is located 1.5 miles to the west of UC's campus at 2797 Coy St. Cincinnati.

SENIOR SALUTE
Starting at 11:15 a.m. Saturday, the UC program will honor 23 seniors for their contributions during their time in Clifton. Those 23 individuals include: Marcus Abraham, Haisha Bisiolu, Loretta Blaut, Sadie Brass, Cassidy Carey, Brooke Catherine, Mykel Chambers, Tes Corea, Annette Echikunwoke, Nick Grismer, Leah Heckaman, Alanna Hendricks, Emma Hensley, Sammy Hentz, Ryan Kane, Lianne Masquelier, Seth Overla, Andrew Schille, Samantha Simms, Naomi Urbano, Michael Vitucci, Grace Winckowski and Steven Zombory.
OLIVER NIKOLOFF
This weekend's meet is named for former Bearcats coach Oliver M. Nikoloff, whom dedicated 42 years of service to UC as both a teacher and coach, including the track & field, tennis and soccer programs. Joining UC in 1917 and plying his trade through the 1959 academic year, much of the program's record book was filled with his athletes' names. A 1912 graduate of Oberlin College, Nikoloff was a standout athlete, excelling in both basketball and tennis. Coach Nikoloff passed away in 1964.
OLYMPIC RECOGNITION
Two of UC's Olympians, David Payne and Mary Wineberg, will be on hand Saturday. In honor of the UC greats, their respective races will be renamed as the David Payne Men's 110m Hurdles (2:40 p.m.) and the Mary Wineberg Women's 400m (2:15 p.m.). Both will be on the Gettler Stadium concourse immediately following their events to interact with fans and sign autographs.
ABOUT DAVID PAYNE
David Payne was a two-time NCAA All-American at UC and went on to have an impressive professional track career. He placed in the Top-3 in the World for three consecutive years in the 110M hurdles and was Olympic Silver Medalist in the event at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Payne is currently the sprints and hurdles coach at Xavier.
ABOUT MARY WINEBERG
Mary Wineberg is a 2002 graduate of UC and went on to have a stellar professional career. She was twice ranked Top-10 in the World in the 400 meters and her professional athletic career was highlighted by making the 2008 United States Olympic Team in the 400 in Beijing. She led off the gold-medal winning 4x400m-relay team.
ON THE GUEST LIST
The Bearcats will welcome representatives from 19 other schools to campus this weekend, including many of the local teams from the region. Along with the Bearcats, the other teams set to compete include Ball State, Bowling Green, Cedarville, Cincinnati Christian, Dayton, Hillsdale, Indiana East, Indiana (Pa.), Indianapolis, IUPUI, Marian (Ind.), Miami (OH), Northern Kentucky, Otterbein, Rio Grande, Shawnee State, Wayne State, Wright State and Xavier.
