CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics played host to its eighth annual Bearcats Go Pro Event last week with the annual event moving to a virtual setting due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Presented annually by UC Student-Athlete Support Services (SASS), the signature career engagement and professional-development for junior and senior student-athletes took place on Monday, Jan. 25 and Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021.
More than 100 Bearcats participated with seven former student-athletes and one current student-athlete serving in professional roles at the event, including: Laz Andino (Football), D.J. Dowdy (Football), Pedro Diaz (Soccer), Libby Greenwell (Soccer), Nate Moore (Baseball) and Anne Pace (Track & Field), Grace Winckowski (Track & Field) and Elise Woulfe (Tennis).
Monday night featured a virtual career panel with four of the former student-athletes and three additional professionals from the Cincinnati community who spoke on their work experience and offered insights on life after college and how to prepare to be a professional. A group discussion took place, followed by individual breakout sessions allowing student-athletes to network directly with the panelist of their choice.
Tuesday night added a virtual graduate/professional school panel with five UC staff members along with four former student-athletes and one current student-athlete who represented the Lindner College of Business, Sport Administration, Pre-Professional Advising, Applied Behavior Analysis, UC Law, Communication Sciences & Disorders and Spanish Language & Literature.
