CINCINNATI -- University of Cincinnati senior defensive lineman Myjai Sanders earned a spot on the Ted Hendricks Award watch list this week, given annually to the nation's top defensive end.
Sanders last season was one of the anchors for a front-seven that led the AAC in rushing, scoring, pass efficiency and total defense. He was rated by Pro Football Focus College as a top edge defender in the country, in addition to being a semifinalist for the Bednarik Award. He had 10.5 tackles-for-loss and seven sacks in the 10-game season.
Sanders, a native of Jacksonville, Fla., started all 14 games in 2019 and appeared in 10 as a freshman in 2018.
The Ted Hendricks Award, which will be announced Dec. 8, is named in honor of college football's first three-time, first-team All-American. On-field performance, exceptional winning attitude, leadership abilities, contributions to school and community and academic preparedness are some of the criteria used to determine the Award's recipient each year.
The No. 7 Bearcats host Murray State at 3:30 p.m. Saturday on ESPN Plus and 700 WLW AM. Limited seats are available.
