CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati men's and women's swimming and diving program officially announced the hiring of assistant coach Blake Hanna.
Hanna joined the Cincinnati swimming and diving staff in the fall of 2022 as a volunteer assistant coach and was promoted to assistant coach. His primary focus groups are mid-distance and individual medley specialists.
During his time as an athlete, Hanna was a standout four-year swimmer at Cincinnati. Throughout his career, he played a crucial role in countless UC record-breaking relays, relay championships, and a 2019 American Athletic Conference Team Championship. A four-time AAC individual conference champion, he holds the UC 200-yard backstroke record, which he first set in 2019 at the conference meet in Indianapolis. In addition to holding the 200-yard backstroke record, he currently holds the 100-yard backstroke school record as well.
Hanna was also a qualifier for the 2021 NCAA Championships in Greensboro, N.C. He finished that season ranked 16th in the nation in the 200-yard backstroke. His other accomplishments include qualifying for the 2021 Olympic Trials Wave II meet and placing second in the 200 back at the Wave I finals.
Hanna graduated from UC in the spring of 2022 with a bachelor's degree in information technology-cyber security. He has three brothers, Davis, Ethan, and Evan. His brother Davis swam at Centre College.
