If you know me or have ever been in my office, you'll know I'm a child of the '80s and '90s. Growing up with three older brothers, my parents threw us outside or in the basement and told us to figure it out. Well, we figured it out through fighting over video games.
The best video game (or at least top 10) was GoldenEye. Everyone remembers the multiplayer, but few remember the actual single-player experience. It's one of the first games I recall that challenged players to go off from a main mission... You needed to engage its side quests. For game completionists, the game was never truly beaten until you finished it all, 100% or bust! If you like side quests––we're talking The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom-type side quests––I have a challenge for you.
Once you read my original Gameday Guide, move on and check out my official side quests for the Nippert at Night game this weekend:
  • Mission 1: Arrive on campus by 3 p.m. Night games are great because they allow more tailgating time. You can run to the grocery store for supplies and still get to campus in time to experience all The Grid has to offer. Here's your challenge to tailgate like a diehard.
  • Mission 2: Find one of the five (5) treasure chests. I've hidden them near Bearcat Commons and The Grid. These are real tiny treasure chests, just like in a video game, and each one contains a special prize. You could be upgraded to a field suite, watch the game from the AD suite, or take in the game near our marketing team in the southwest corner of Carson Field. The catch: These must be found by 5 p.m. Saturday. Get to campus early, and happy hunting!
  • Mission 3: Make it on the video board. This is an easier challenge this year. Thanks to Tagboard, you can accomplish this mission by posting a photo on social media using #Bearcats!
  • Mission 4: Grab a last-minute tailgate setup from RevelXP HERE, or prep for next week's Oklahoma game by snapping up one of those last remaining spots.
  • Mission 5: Take a selfie with your usher and send it to Tagboard using #Bearcats when you share it on social media. The usher with the most fan photos will win a day off on us... and perhaps you'll be there to join them in one of our premium seating areas.
  • Mission 6: Make a donation to Cincy Reigns! This is a major side quest, and there are no excuses not to participate.
  • Mission 7: Wear Black! This is one you should be doing already. If you need a wardrobe refresh, check out Rally House, our new official online team store. Order online and pick it up in-store for the quickest turnaround!
  • Mission 8: Try the Big Cat in Stadium View Café. It's a huge pastrami on rye!
  • Mission 9: Check out the food trucks at Victory Plaza. Celebrate our local favorites and thank them for being here on gameday.
  • Mission 10: Check out the face painter and balloon artists in the Bearcats Family Fun Zone once the gates open. The Ford Big Screen will be there for the adults to watch the earlier games while the kids jump in the bounce houses.

Lastly, ahead of the Battle for the Victory Bell, here are some updates on the gameday experience since the season opener.
  1. Campus is still cashless! Reminder to bring your credit or debit cards.
  2. We had an issue with food vendors in TUC during Game 1 that required them to close. We apologize. We've been assured they will be open for business on Saturday!
  3. We're continuing to add more points of sale. You will see plenty more vendors in the concourse selling drinks and water.
  4. Our shuttles to and from our parking garages will have more signage and personnel to help guide our fans.
  5. Our Gravity Club team has worked hard and made adjustments to the operation. We have added another Skyline location in the area, as well as ramping up additional staff for the hot station service.
  6. We've worked on referee microphones!
  7. We had a staffing shortage due to an unforeseen pre-game issue. We will have the full staff available at gates (ticket takers) and vomitories (ushers).
  8. Easter Egg Side Quest: The first person to tag us (@GoBEARCATS) in a Tweet with the correct reason why they call it a vomitory will be rewarded with a cotton candy on us!
We're excited to hit reset from Game 1, put in the Miami (OH) game cartridge, and start mashing some buttons to get us through the non-conference slate!
