CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Former UC passing great Deontey Kenner will join the Bearcats' radio broadcast booth this fall. Kenner will team with play-by-play voice Dan Hoard and analyst Jim Kelly on 700WLW's broadcasts of UC football games. The three-man crew of Hoard, Kelly and Kenner will make their debut on Friday, September 8 when the Bearcats play host to Pittsburgh.

Due to a broadcast commitment with the Pawtucket Red Sox Dan Hoard will not serve as the play-by-play voice of UC Football for the season opener against Eastern Kentucky. UC television broadcaster Jeff Piecoro will call the action against the Colonels, set for a 7 p.m. airtime on 700WLW, 7:30 p.m. at Nippert Stadium.

"This was a mutual decision by ClearChannel and UC that we feel will make our broadcasts more informative and in-depth," stated UC athletics director Mike Thomas. "Having Deontey in the booth with Dan and Jim will bring our fans a fresh sound and new attitude."

Kenner was UC's starting quarterback for the 1999, 2000 and 2001 seasons, leading the Bearcats to Motor City Bowl appearances in each of his final two seasons. He concluded his career owning UC records for passing attempts and most yards of total offense, marks that Gino Guidugli has since topped. Kenner still holds the single game marks for passes attempted (59) and completed (35).

"One of the most important aspects of building a strong football program is respecting the players who have played in the Red & Black and developing life-long relationships with them" says Head Coach Mark Dantonio. "Having Jim and Deontey in the booth with a broadcast professional like Dan Hoard is a great way for Cincinnati Football fans and a national radio audience from WLW learn about our current team while also getting a solid history of our proud past."

Kenner joins a veteran Bearcat broadcast team. Hoard will start his seventh season as play-by-play voice and Kelly his 16th in the booth as analyst.

The first Mark Dantonio Coaches Radio Show will debut on 700WLW on Thursday, August 31 at 8 p.m. live from Rick's Tavern in Fairfield, Ohio. Andy Furman and Jim Kelly will join head coach Mark Dantonio for this action-packed hour of college football talk.

The 2006 season marks the 14th year that powerhouse 700WLW has served as the radio home of the Cincinnati Athletics. Since 2003, that relationship has continued under an agreement with the UC athletics program's multimedia rights holder ISP Sports.

700WLW's signal can be heard in 38 states and seven countries via terrestrial radio, and worldwide via XM Satellite Radio Channel 173. UC is the only school in the nation which can boast of its entire schedule of coach's shows, and regular season football & men's basketball games carried on satellite radio.

Kelly has been a part of the Bearcats Football Broadcast Team since the 1990 season, replacing former Bearcat passing star Greg Cook. Jim is the son of Jim Kelly, who had been associated with UC for over 40 years--37 as an assistant coach and administrator. The senior Kelly had been a receiving star on the Sid Gillman-coached teams of the early 1950s. Jim Jr. followed suit in the mid-1970s, starting for three seasons, but played on a run-oriented team. Kelly is a Sales Executive with Aramark and is a member a local band that was formed of UC friends from his era that still performs, now infrequently, in the area, specializing in 70s music and musicians.
