Josh Schneider Named BIG EAST Swimmer of the Week

CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati senior Josh Schneider earned BIG EAST Swimmer of the Week honors for the week ending on Jan. 31, the league office announced Wednesday.

Schneider, who is undefeated this season, took top honors in the 50 freestyle (19.72), 100 freestyle (44.16), and 100 butterfly (48.67) against No. 21 Kentucky. Not only is the Schneider, a two-time honorable mention NCAA all-America selection, unbeaten in each event this season, he continues to lead all BIG EAST swimmers in those three events timed events.

Schneider's season best time of 19.45 in the 50 freestyle ranks second nationally entering the week.

Cincinnati is back in action on Feb 6, when the Bearcats welcome Wright State to the Keating Aquatic Center Natatorium at 1 p.m.

Saturday will serve as senior day for the Bearcats, as 12 student-athletes, Elinore de Jong, Lange Gilby, Joanne Gribler, Bill Griffin, Tim Kasberg, Paul Krone, Sarah Krone, Emma Misanik, Jeremy Peter, Nick Saul, Schneider, and Ryan Weitzel compete in their last home meet. Admission for all fans is free.
