TicketsUniversity of Cincinnati senior third baseman Connor McVey signed a free agent contract with the Milwaukee Brewers to continue his playing career at the professional level.
McVey posted a .279 batting average while starting 54 games this past season. He hit nine doubles and six homeruns with 36 RBI. McVey's 16 stolen bases was good for second on the team. The five-year player ends his Bearcats career ranking in the top ten at UC in career games played, at-bats, hits, hit by pitch, sacrifice flies, sacrifice hits and stolen bases. Defensively, McVey collected 348 putouts and 477 assists in his lauded career.
McVey is the fourth Bearcats student-athlete to be given a chance to play professional baseball this week. Manny Rodriguez was taken in the 10th round of the Major League Baseball Draft on Tuesday. Pitchers Cam Alldred and J.T. Perez were drafted in the 24th round by the Pirates and 29th round by the Twins, respectively, on Wednesday. Two UC signees also were selected in the draft this year.
