University of Cincinnati sophomore Nicolas Osterburg (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian HS) carded a career-best 5-under par 67 in the morning and followed with an even par 72 in the afternoon to tie for fourth at 5-under 139 Monday at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate in Choudrant, La.

Osterburg along the duo of senior Austin Squires (Union, Ky./Ryle HS) and redshirt freshman Mason Lenhart (Prospect, Ky./North Oldham), who both are tied for 16th place at even par 144, have helped the Bearcats climb to third in the team standings at 4-over 287-293=580.

Osterburg enters Tuesday's final round four strokes behind tournament leader William Walker III of UAB, who finished Monday at 9-under 67-68=135.

UAB leads the 15-team field at 19-under 278-279=557, one stroke ahead of Georgia, who registered an 18-under 278-280=558 through two rounds.

Tuesday's final round at Squire Creek Country Club (par 72, 7,070 yards) starts at 9 a.m. ET. Follow the action at Golfstat.com

Osterburg went bogey free in the morning with a trio of birdies, 14 par scores and an eagle on the ninth hole. He eagled the ninth hole again to highlight his effort in the second round that also included a couple of birdies and 11 par scores.

Squires' opening round included a pair of birdies, 15 par scores and a lone bogey for 1-under 71. Four bogeys over an eight-hole stretch put Squires at 3-over through 13 holes in the second round before the senior posted back-to-back birdies and holes 15 and 16 that led to his 1-over 73.

Lenhart posted a steady even par 72 in the morning as a couple of birdies on the front nine offset a pair of bogeys on the back nine. He started slow in the afternoon with three consecutive bogies early but managed to shoot even par thanks to four birdies later in the round, including two in his last four holes.

Sophomore Clay Amlung (Louisville, Ky./Saint Xavier High School), playing in his first tournament of the fall season, is tied for 20th place at 1-over 74-71=145. A double bogey on the 10th hole was the only disruption in a solid first round that included a birdie, a bogey and 15 par scores. He fought through an up and down second round that consisted of a double bogie, four bogies and seven birdies. Amlung is playing the tournament as an individual, unattached from the team score.

Freshman Sam Jean (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove HS) is tied for 61st place at 9-over 77-76=153. Senior Paul Huber (Edgewood, Ky.,/Covington Catholic HS) is 76th at 14-over 78-80=158.

// QUOTING HEAD COACH DOUG MARTIN
On the team's first-day performance:
"We got off to a great start at 7-under through 10 holes and then the weather really changed. The temperature dropped 20 degrees and the conditions became very difficult. We didn't execute well enough but finished third behind the best two teams in the field.

"We've got to come out Tuesday and be tough and live for the moment because the weather conditions will be difficult again."

On the play of Nicolas Osterburg:
"Nick played great today. He didn't try to put too much pressure on himself and did a lot of good things all day. He need this to help his confidence."

On the play of Austin Squires and Mason Lenhart:
"Austin and Mason did some good things too. Austin didn't really have his best stuff but still managed to shoot even par. Mason did a good job of rallying after a poor start."
