CINCINNATI - The second day of competition at the 2019 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships came to a close Saturday night inside Cessna Stadium in Wichita, Kan., with both University of Cincinnati teams sitting second in the team standings ahead of the final day of competition. Three more Bearcats earned all-conference accolades (Top 3 finish in an event), highlighted by Sadie Brass, who entered the women's pole vault seeded ninth and finished as the league runner-up in her senior competition.
// TEAM STANDINGS
Through the second day of competition, both Bearcats teams sit second in the overall team standings with many event finals taking place Sunday. Now ranked seventh in the history of the program, Brass earned her first podium finish and her first all-conference accolade while grabbing a huge eight points for the team as the vault scored nine points as Brooke Catherine placed eighth as well. To add to it, Brass' clearance today was a 4.25" improvement over her personal best as well.

The Bearcats sent four women to compete in the shot put and all four reached the final with three scoring Top 8 finishes to score 14 points for the team. The group was led by Annette Echikunwoke who took runner-up honors as she hit a best of 15.50m (50-10.25) to earn her second all-conference honor of the weekend after winning the hammer title one day prior. Freshman Malin Smith was fifth overall at 15.15m (49-08.50) to grab four points while Leah Heckaman finished seventh with a best of 15.06m (49-05.00) to grab two points. Jane Sensibaugh reached the finals and placed ninth overall with a toss of 14.48m (47-06.25), leaving her one position shy of scoring.
// THROWING IN POINTS
The men's shot put also picked up valuable points as all three men in the competition not only reached the final, but scored as well. Marcus Abraham led the charge as he had a best mark of 17.48m (57-04.25) to finish third and earn all-conference honors along with six team points. Sam Meece, the hammer champion from one day prior, placed sixth overall with a PR 16.95m (55-07.50) that not only earned UC three team points, but also pushed him to #7 on the all-time Top 10 list in program history.
