Lacrosse Earns 16-14 Comeback Win Over Stetson

CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team used an 11-goal barrage in the second half to stage a 16-14 comeback win over Stetson on a frigid and breezy afternoon at Gettler Stadium.

CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team used an 11-goal barrage in the second half to stage a 16-14 comeback win over Stetson on a frigid and breezy afternoon at Gettler Stadium.

The Bearcats (2-4) trailed 7-5 at the half and traded goals early in the second frame with the Hatters (1-3). Down 12-8 with 17:03 left, a feed from Monica Borzillo to Gianna Napoletano was the first of four-straight goals for the UC in less than two minutes as the Bearcats tied things up at 12-12 with 15:34 left. 

All told, the UC run was 7-1 over a 14-minute span which was capped by Taylor Gysin's brace on a feed from Kate Carney with 4:12 to go with handed UC a 15-13 lead it would not relinquish.

UC returns to action on Sunday, traveling to Kent State for a make up of the Feb. 7 matchup which was postponed by snow. The Bearcats and Flashes are set for a 3 p.m. ET first draw.

NOTABLE
• Alyssa Adams, Peyton Mottice, Napoletano and Gysin each poured in hat tricks while Borzillo added a pair of scores.
• Adams, on the American Athletic Conference honor roll this week, has nine goals in the past two games. 
• Napoletano's three goals was a season high and her fifth career hat trick.
• Mottice netted her first career three-goal game and has scored five in UC's last two contests, vs. Stetson and Central Michigan.
• Gysin scored three or more goals for the fifth time in her career and set a season high with three scores.
• Borzillo assisted on four goals, giving her six points on the day.
• Cincinnati leads the all-time series with Stetson 4-1 and is 2-0 in games played in the Queen City.
