CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati men's basketball senior guard Keith Williams was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.
Williams averaged a team-high 18 points with 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists while shooting 47.8 percent from the field (11 of 23) and 62.5 percent (5 of 8) from 3-point range during a 1-1 week for the Bearcats.
Williams scored a team-high 20 points with a season-high three 3-pointers in a 78-64 loss to Vanderbilt on Thursday. He tallied 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists in UC's 82-69 win at East Carolina on Sunday.
Williams enters the postseason ranked among league leaders in points (sixth at 14.9), blocks (tied for 12th at 0.8) and steals (tied for 15th at 1.2).
Williams, who has led the Bearcats in scoring in 11 games this season, averages 15.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.2 steals this season. He is averaging 17.4 points and 4.4 assists over UC's last five games.
Williams became the 54th member of UC's 1,000-point club at Tulane (2/7) with a game-high 20 points against the Green Wave. He enters the postseason with 1,125 career points, ranking 37th in school history.
Earlier this season Williams was named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll following his performance against UCF (12/22). He posted his first career double-double with a team-high 19 points and game-best 10 rebounds against the Knights.
