Track & Field Earns 20 Wins Saturday At The Oliver Nikoloff Invitational

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati track and field program racked up an impressive 20 wins, with 45 podium finishes at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational Saturday evening, in Cincinnati, Ohio. The men's team finished runner up, while the women's team claimed first over two days of competition in track and field's outdoor season opener.  
 
On the men's side, Matt Hoak (100m Dash), Chris Borzor (400m Dash, 200m Dash), Julius Hild (5000m Run), Jeremy Hayton (High Jump), Tim Maduka (Long Jump), Andre Wright (Triple Jump), Sam Meece (Shot Put, Discus Throw) claimed gold in their respective events.
 
On the women's side Thorpe, Lattimore, Banks, Chandler (400m Relay), Caisja Chandler (100m Dash, 200m Dash), Tiona Lattimore (400m Dash), Victoria Abunaw (100m Hurdles), Carmen Licht (800m Run), Ellie Leather (5000m Run), Rachel Coghill (Pole Vault), Anaya Dees (Long Jump), Kennedy Marable (Triple Jump), Malin Smith (Shot Put) took top honors.

MEN
 

• Hoak paced the competition with a time of 3:48.76 in the men's 1500m run, enough for a personal best, awarding him his first win of the outdoor season.
• Borzor claimed two event wins in the 400m and 200m, crossing the line with times of 47.76 and 20.87 respectively.
• Hild posted a personal best clocking of 14:42.69 in the 5000m, awarding him the top spot.
• Hayton took home the first-place crown in the men's high jump with a mark of 1.95m (6-4.75).
• Maduka secured the first-place spot in the men's long jump with a distance of 7.29m (23-11), enough for a new personal best.
• Wright took top honors in the men's triple jump with a mark of 15.20m (49-10.50)
• Meece also secured a pair of wins in the shot put and discus throw with heaves of 15.83m (51-11) and 48.04m (157-8) respectively.

 
WOMEN

• Thorpe, Lattimore, Banks, and Chandler took home the first-place crown in the women's 400m relay, crossing the line at 45.41.
• Chandler also secured solo wins in two events posting times of 11.49 in the 100m Dash and 23.25 in the 200m Dash.
• Lattimore also got things rolling claiming a solo win 400m dash with a clocking of 55.01.
• Abunaw paced the competition in the 60m Hurdles with a time of 8.55.
• Licht secured her first-place finish of the outdoor season with a clocking of 2:21.34 in the 800m run.
• Leather kept her stride transitioning into the outdoor season, claiming her first colligate outdoor win in the 5000m crossing the line at 16:40.28, enough for a new UC Individual record.
• Coghill added another first-place tally to her list with a mark of 3.90m in the women's pole vault.
• Dees took home two personal bests and one win in the women's long jump with a distance of 5.67m (18-7.25).
• Marable assisted the Bearcats in their Saturday win with a first-place finish in the women's triple jump, posting a mark of 12.36m.
• Smith finished off the field events for the women with top honors in the women's shotput with a heave of 15.78m (51-9.25)

 
UP NEXT
The Bearcats return to action April 8-10, Thursday-Saturday in Knoxville, Tennessee to compete in the Tennessee Relays, Hosted by the University of Tennessee.
