Cross Country Set to Start Fall 2021 Season at Butler Twilight Invite

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati men's and women's cross country teams will open their Fall 2021 season on Friday, Septemeber 3rd with the Butler Twilight Invite at 6:45 P.M. ET in Carmel, Indiana at the Northview Church Course.

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati men's and women's cross country teams will open their Fall 2021 season on Friday, Septemeber 3rd with the Butler Twilight Invite at 6:45 P.M. ET in Carmel, Indiana at the Northview Church Course. 

MEET SCHEDULE
Racing will begin at the Butler Twilight Invite at 6:45 P.M. The meet will take place as follows:
 
6:45 P.M. – Women's 5,000 meters
7:15 P.M. – Men's 6,000 meters 

WHERE WE LEFT OFF
UC last competed as a team at the 2021 AAC Championships, where they posted their best combined team finish scores since 1985.  The men's team was second in the 8k race while the women's team took third in the 6k event. 

Of UC's returning athletes, Alec Sandusky and Ellie Leather were the top finishers for the men's and women's teams earning 5th and 3rd place respectively.  Sandusky finished with a time of 24:05.40 and Leather with a time of 21:06.20.   

Also placing high for the men's team and returning for another season with UC were Toni Banos, who finished 13th with a time of 24:56.20, and Tyler Wirth, who finished 15th with a time of 25:01.08. 

For the women's team, returning athletes who ended on a high note at the AAC championships include Maddie Walker, who finished 15th with a time of 22:03.09, and Carmela Henning, who finished 18th with a time of 22:15.30.   

Additionally, Sandusky has since competed in the NCAA Championship men's 10k clocking in a personal best of 31:11.60, earning him 69th place.  
The Bearcats are excited to have 11 men and 11 women competing in the Butler Twilight Invite on Friday.
