CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team returns to action this weekend as they look to take part in a two day meet against Oral Roberts University on Saturday, Feb. 20 at 2:30 p.m. ET and the University of Tulsa on Sunday, Feb. 21, at 2:00 p.m. ET. This weekend's competition marks 22 days since the Bearcats last meet due to COVID protocol within the program.
LAST TIME OUT
Cincinnati came off a 1-6 loss over the University of Kentucky, while also handing UK its first loss of the season in singles play.
Prior to Kentucky, the Bearcats claimed their first win of the season in their season opener, with a 4-3 dual-meet win over Northern Illinois.
The Bearcats won the doubles point, taking two of the three contests and then finished an even 3-3 with the Huskies in singles.
Niehaus would post the fastest win of the day with a clean 2-0 sweep over her Huskies foe, opening with a quick 6-3 first-set edge, followed by a 6-4 margin in the second.
MEET HISTORY
This Saturday's matchup is first time the Bearcats have faced off against ORU. ORU is 0-2 this season coming off a pair of 0-7 losses to Oklahoma University and the University of Arkansas.
Cincinnati's meet against Tulsa this Sunday afternoon is the second time in series history these two teams will compete. Tulsa took the first series victory back in 2017 on 0-4 sweep at Lake Nona, Fla. Tulsa is 5-2 this season and 1-0 in American Athletic Conference play, winning its conference matchup against Memphis, 5-2.
