// CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati women's tennis looks to open its season at home against Northern Illinois on Saturday. The match is set to start at noon ET and will take place in the Western Athletic Club.

The Bearcats, who saw their 2019-20 spring season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic return eight players from a year ago.

"The true measure with all these girls is match play, and we didn't get any of that last spring, but that changes on Saturday," UC head coach Eric Toth said. "The important part is that you get a chance to compete as a team and these girls have proven already that they can make the sacrifices to make it work. They've done a really good job and I'm really proud of all of them."

Redshirt senior Anna Philp returns for her fifth year as a Bearcat. In her senior year season of 2019-20, Philp recorded a 9-3 record in singles play and 12-5 mark in doubles action. Redshirt juniors Alexia Countino, Ioana Guna, Amanda Huser and Emma Miceli are also set to return for the Bearcats.
