CINCINNATI— The University of Cincinnati men's and women's swimming and diving teams swept crosstown rival Xavier, in dominant fashion on Friday.
The Bearcats won 22 events, a season high, as the UC men's team won 197-97, and the UC women's team won 181-106. Cincinnati picked up their second home sweep in a row after accomplishing the feat against Kenyon College on Jan. 13.
"The team competed really well today," said head coach Mandy Commons-DiSalle. "We were able to switch up the lineup and give them the opportunity to race in some different events. They are looking great for this point in the season and have one final week of racing ahead of us to look forward to."
Junior Hunter Gubeno was a force inside the Keating Aquatic Center as he won three individual events and was the lead swimmer on the men's 200-yard medley-winning team.
