Track and Field Begins Indoor Season in Bloomington

The University of Cincinnati men's and women's track and field program heads to Bloomington, Ind. on Friday to compete in its 2023-24 indoor season opening meet, the Indiana Early Bird Meet.

CINCINNATI— The University of Cincinnati men's and women's track and field program heads to Bloomington, Ind. on Friday to compete in its 2023-24 indoor season-opening meet, the Indiana Early Bird Meet. 
 
The Indiana Early Bird Meet will be held inside the Gladstein Fieldhouse. Field events will begin at 3:45 p.m., while track events will start at 5:05 p.m. The complete schedule of events and start times can be found here. A total of 36 student-athletes will be making the trip to Indiana, the complete list for the meet entries can be found here. Notable returners competing on Friday include junior Dominique Hall and senior Korbin Spencer, who played crucial roles in helping the Bearcats claim the 2023 men's AAC Indoor Track and Field Team Championship title.  
 
On the women's side, 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championship qualifier Abby Knouff will look to pick back up right where she left off last season. The UC 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles current record holder, Nyile Facey, will also be putting on her spikes for the first time this season.
 
In total, 14 newcomers will be making their Bearcat debut on Friday. Highlighting the group are graduate transfers Noah Thomas (throws), Hannah Connell (sprints), sophomore Mallory Mullen (high jump) and freshmen Juliette Laracuente-Huebner (multis) and Tosin Ayodeji (long jump/triple jump).
 
Friday will be the first of two trips to Bloomington as the team will return for the Indiana Invitational on Jan. 19-20. The Indiana Early Bird Meet will also mark the first track and field meet Cincinnati will compete in as a member of the Big 12 since the university joined the conference on July 1.

Following Friday's meet, Cincinnati will take a month-long hiatus for the winter break and return to action on Jan. 12-13 for the Rod McCravy Memorial Invite in Louisville, KY. The meet will be hosted by Kentucky inside Louisville's Norton Healthcare Sports and Learning Center.
