Simpson and Macres Earn AAC Weekly Awards, Callaghan Grabs Honor Roll

CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati lacrosse graduate student Victoria Macres and freshman Hailey Joy Simpson earned AAC Goalkeeper of the Week and Freshman of the Week honors, respectively, following the Bearcats' back-to-back victories.

CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati lacrosse graduate student Victoria Macres and freshman Hailey Joy Simpson earned AAC Goalkeeper of the Week and Freshman of the Week honors, respectively, following the Bearcats' back-to-back victories.

Sophomore Camryn Callaghan grabbed her second Honor Roll accolade of the season as well.

This is Macres' and Simpson's first conference accolade as Bearcats.

All three Bearcats had strong performances in their wins over Youngstown State (Thursday) and Kent State (Sunday).

Against the Penguins, Macres recorded four saves and allowed one goal. She collected five saves versus the Golden Flashes.

She now sits second in the conference for save percentage (.479) and goals against (8.05 ga/avg).

Simpson made her first career start against YSU in the Bearcats' 25-5 victory. She registered two goals, two points, one draw control and two shots.

She contributed to Cincinnati's win over Kent State, notching one goal, one groundball, one draw control and three shots.

Callaghan led the team with six goals versus Kent State and five against Youngstown State.

She ranks first in the conference for goals per game (4.50 avg/g) and sits in the eighth spot in program history with 89 career goals.

Cincinnati remains at home to take on the Louisville Cardinals on Wednesday at 12 p.m. before hitting the road for a matchup against Wofford on March 14.
