Zeynep Erman Prepared for ITA Sectional Championships

Cincinnati graduate student Zeynep Erman heads to Athens, Ga., to compete in the ITA Sectional Championships at the Magill Tennis Complex this weekend. The event will begin this Thursday, Nov. 7 and conclude on Sunday, Nov. 10.

CINCINNATI –– Cincinnati graduate student Zeynep Erman heads to Athens, Ga., to compete in the ITA Sectional Championships at the Magill Tennis Complex this weekend. The event will begin this Thursday, Nov. 7 and conclude on Sunday, Nov. 10.
 
The Istanbul, Turkey native is set to face off against the University of Mississippi's Anaëlle Leclercq-Ficher in the round of 32.

Only players who have not yet qualified for the NCAA Championships but made deep runs at the ITA All-American or ITA Regional Championships were eligible to participate.
 
The event includes a 32-player draw for singles and a 16-team draw for doubles. From each section, six singles players (the semifinalists and two winners of quarterfinal playoffs) will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship, totaling 24 qualifiers.

Erman won all three of her doubles matches and two singles matches at the TCU Jae Foundation Invitational.
 
She claimed two of her doubles wins with junior Rozalia Gruszczynska and one with sophomore Morgan Pyrz.
 
Erman and Gruszczynska clinched a smooth win over Baylor's Na Dong and Kennedy Gibbs, 6-1.
 
In singles, Erman had an intense match against LSU's Kenna Erickson, where she battled to secure a narrow victory, finishing 4-6, 7-6(5), 10-6.
