CINCINNATI -- A Beam Signing Ceremony capped off Friday afternoon on the Cincinnati campus as University President Neville Pinto, Director of Athletics John Cunningham and Head Football Coach Scott Satterfield joined Larry and Rhonda Sheakley to help commemorate a major step in the new $134 million Indoor Practice Facility and Performance Center.

Spearheaded by the Sheakley's transformational giving and leadership, the new state-of-the art facilities will elevate the Cincinnati student-athlete experience, giving Bearcats an unrivaled advantage on the playing field and on the recruiting trail. It is set to be completed in Spring 2025.

The facilities will be named after the Sheakley family. Other naming opportunities are still available by contacting the UCATS office, and timelines, construction information and archived video tours by month can be found at ipf.gobearcats.com.

"We're so excited to get in that building," Satterfield said. "When you look at our level of college football and you go to these schools and see these facilities, you have to have them in order to compete. When we bring in a recruit who has been to other schools in the Big 12 who have these things, they want to see that here. We haven't had that before, but now we can show them what we're building. It will help us tremendously moving forward."

The 84,000 square-foot Indoor Practice Facility features a 120-yard football field equipped for multiple sports. The field will provide an all-weather home for Cincinnati football practices and year-round workouts and have direct access to the Performance Center's weight room, training room and performance nutrition fueling stations.

The 96,000 square-foot Performance Center features three levels that will provide nearly everything a student-athlete needs to get competition and practice ready in one place, including offices for the football program.
Bearcats Scrimmage Friday in Campus Return from Higher Ground
Cincinnati held its final scrimmage of fall camp on Friday afternoon at Nippert Stadium.

After a brief warmup period, the Bearcats' battled for over an hour and ran over 60 plays. Position battles have been heating up since the start of fall camp, but with the season opener just two weeks away decisions will be made soon regarding the starting lineup on both sides of the ball.

"I think we're close," head coach Scott Satterfield said. "When you think about defense, whoever starts the game will play, but not the whole game. We're going to be two-deep at every position. We're going to be fresh and be able to rotate those guys out. We were not able to do that last year, and we have a lot more luxury with that this year. There's not a lot of drop-off from the ones and twos. I feel like the twos getting in here are getting some great reps and going to give us good minutes.

"Offensively, we feel very confident about our offensive line and tight end rooms." Satterfield continued. "Corey Kiner is at running back, but we have to know who our next guys are off the bench since we're going to play three or four there. At wide receiver, we're still trying to figure all that out while playing six or seven guys. Everybody wants to know about quarterback, and it's been a great battle over the last two weeks. We will look at the film here and see where we're at. By the middle of the week for sure, we'll be able to name a starter."

Freshman tight end Gavin Grover had a standout day during the scrimmage, catching two touchdowns from redshirt sophomore quarterback Brendan Sorsby. Sorsby also found senior wide receiver Sterling Berkhalter for a long TD.

Junior running back Chance Williams found the end zone for the first touchdown of the day, and senior wide receiver Xzavier Henderson caught a touchdown pass as well.

On defense, redshirt sophomore Kalen Carroll had one of the plays of the day with an interception, and redshirt senior Josh Minkins nearly joined him with an impressive pass breakup.
