FIRST PITCH INVITATIONAL
-The 2nd Annual First Pitch Invitational will take place February 25-27. The three day round-robin will feature five programs with Clemson, Michigan State, and Furman, all of whom participated in 2010's inaugural event, being joined by Cincinnati and Charleston Southern.
-The Bearcats have an all-time series record of 1-1 vs. Clemson, with both games being played in 1980.
-They are 1-0 all-time against Charleston Southern after defeating the Buccaneers in 1999.
-Against Furman, UC is 3-2 with the last matchup occuring in 2002.
SCOUTING CLEMSON
-Clemson advanced to the Final Four of the College World Series in 2010, its sixth College World Series appearance in 17 seasons under Head Coach Jack Leggett.
-The Tigers finished 2010 with a record of 45-25 overall and tied for first place in the ACC Atlantic Division with an 18-12 league record.
-The Tigers return four starters from last year's squad, led by SS Brad Miller (.357 avg. in `10) and 3B John Hinson (17 HR in `10).
-In 2011 CU is 2-1 after taking two of three in its opening series of the season against Eastern Michigan.
SCOUTING CHARLESTON SOUTHERN
-CSU finished 2010 with a 17-38 overall record and a 6-20 mark in the Big South Conference.
-The Buccaneers return 21 lettermen from last season's team.
-Charleston Southern is 2-2 this year after losing two of three to North Florida and then defeating Furman 5-3 Tuesday.
SCOUTING FURMAN
-Furman brings a 4-2 into the First Pitch Invitational after opening 2011 with a four-game sweep of Ohio, followed by losses to Charleston Southern and Georgia.
-The Paladins return all eight starters from last year's team that went 19-37 (11-19 Southern Conference).
