FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team secured a season-opening, 3-0 triumph over the Fort Wayne Mastodons on Monday afternoon at Warrior Athletic Field on the Indiana Tech campus.

The Bearcats got on the board early when sophomore Adam Wilson (Auchterarder, Scotland/Dollar Academy) found the back of the net during the 21st minute. UC carried a 1-0 advantage into intermission and added to its lead midway through the second period with a sophomore JJ Iroh (Mason, Ohio/Mason) goal in the 66th minute. Cincinnati added more cushion in the 79th minute when sophomore Austin Smythe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day/Radford) split the pipes to give the Bearcats a 3-0 advantage.

21' - CIN Adam Wilson
Wilson took a cross from the right side, aided by assists from freshman Patrick Nielsen (Copenhagen, Denmark/Rungsted Gymnasium) and junior Jack Clark (Mason, Ohio/Mason), and slipped the ball past goalkeeper Raphael Kotzock for the score.

66' - CIN JJ Iroh
Clark again contributed to the offensive attack, dishing a helper to Iroh who tapped the ball in from in front of the keeper.

79' - CIN Austin Smythe
Iroh found himself in the middle of a scoring sequence again when he, along with freshman David Sanz, teamed up to provide a shot for Smythe who was able to drop the ball in behind the goalie for the Bearcats' third and final goal of the match.

// GAME NOTES
- UC improves to 3-0 all-time against Fort Wayne. The Bearcats have defeated the Mastodons each of the last three seasons.
- Cincinnati improves to 22-17-5 all-time in season openers and 10-3-3 under head coach Hylton Dayes in lid-lifters. Furthermore, UC is unbeaten in seven of the last eight openings to the season.
- Iroh added both his first-career goal and assist in the win.
- Junior goalkeeper Pedro Diaz (Mason, Ohio/Mason) added five saves and picked up his fourth-career win.

The match will serve as the home season opener for UC after the previously scheduled home opener against Appalachian State on Friday, Aug. 26, was cancelled due to weather.
