CINCINNATI – Track and field assistant coach Lara Rogers was recognized by the U.S Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association earlier this week as the 2021 USTFCCCA Great Lakes Region - Men's Assistant Coach of the Year.

Rogers entered her fifth year as track and field's assistant coach, overseeing the Bearcat's distance program. With her guidance, six Bearcats entered UC's all-time top 10 list in the 3000m as well as two in the mile. Leading the charge was Aaron Bienenfeld and Alec Sandusky, both who are nationally ranked in the 5000m and 3000m. Bienenfeld, UC's all-time record holder in both events, is currently ranked fifth in the 5000m and sixth in the 3000m. Sandusky is currently ranked sixth in the 5000m and twelfth in the 3000m.

Rogers and the Bearcats look to extend their success next weekend at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The competition will run March 12-13 inside the Randal Tyson Track Center.
