Soccer Returns to Gettler to Face Oklahoma State

The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team (2-6-4) begins a two-game homestand by welcoming Oklahoma State (11-3-0) on Thursday inside Gettler Stadium.

CINCINNATI — The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team (2-6-4) begins a two-game homestand by welcoming Oklahoma State (11-3-0) on Thursday inside Gettler Stadium.  

The match will kick off at 7 p.m. ET and will be streamed on ESPN+/Big 12 Now. A subscription to the streaming service is required to watch the game. Fans can also follow along with the live stats found here.

All UC home soccer games are free for fans to attend. Students attending Thursday's game can display their Bearcat Card at the marketing table and enter a raffle for a UC soccer scarf. The first 50 fans will be able to receive a free frozen chocolate banana, and apple cider will be served at the concession stands.

// CONFERENCE COMPETITION COMMENCES
The Bearcats are in their inaugural season in the Big 12 since the university joined the conference on July 1. This season, Cincinnati is 1-2-2 in conference play, while Oklahoma State enters Thursday's match with a record of 4-1-0, third in the Big 12.

// THE MATCHUP
Thursday's match will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs. Oklahoma State is one of six new conference opponents the Bearcats will face for the first time in program history this season.
 
// LAST TIME OUT
The Bearcats were defeated 3-0 by No. 14 Texas Tech on Sunday inside John Walker Soccer Complex.  
 
// SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
Oklahoma State is coming off its first conference loss of the season as the Cowgirls fell 1-0 loss to TCU in Fort Worth, Texas. Cincinnati suffered the same fate as Oklahoma State in its matchup against TCU in early September.
 
Logan Heausler and Hannah Chance both lead Oklahoma State in goals with seven and Laudain Wilson and Alex Morris are tied for the team lead in assists with six. Oklahoma State is led by head coach Collin Carmichael, who is in his 19th season at the helm of the Cowgirls. He has spent his entire career at OSU and holds a record of 250-100-50.
 
// TEAM LEADERS 
Sophomore midfielder Megan Smith leads the team in goals this season with three, while both Smith and senior forward Ellie Flower have recorded a team-high 15 shots. Junior midfielder Fran Stables leads the Bearcats in assists with two.
 
// ZEMBERYOVA RETURNS
Cincinnati forward Laura Zemberyova returns to the team after a four-game hiatus as she was called up to play for the Slovakia Women's National team's first two UEFA Women's National League matches. She played 48 minutes across the team's two matches and earned the start in the team's opening match against Finland.
 
// CAREER HISTORY TO WATCH
Not only has graduate student defender Ashley Barron cracked into the top 10 for career minutes (6th, 6,211 min.) but she is fast approaching the top 10 in career starts. Barron recorded her 74th career start in her 75th career cap against Texas Tech. She has started 70 straight matches dating back to 2019 and is now only one start away from the 10th-most career starts in program history.   

Senior goalkeeper Anna Rexford continues to climb the UC all-time career top-10 list in three different categories. She is currently tied for sixth in career wins with 21
 
The Wilmore, Ky., native is also currently ranked inside the top 10 in shutouts (8th) and saves (10th).

 // A NEW FACE TAKES CENTER STAGE
True freshman Emma Gioffre has made quite the impact for the Bearcats this season. She has appeared in all 12 games this season, starting in 10. She became the first true freshman to start in double-digit matches since Ashley Barron started 18 in 2019.

Cincinnati will be back in Gettler Stadium on Sunday to host Oklahoma in the team's second-to-last home match of the year. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET and will be streamed on ESPN+/Big12Now.
