CINCINNATI – The Cincinnati men's golf team tees off an exciting April with the three-day Mason Rudolph Championship, Friday at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn.
The Bearcats were previously 15th out of a dense 20-team field at Houston's All-American Intercollegiate, March 18-19. Before that, they were sixth at the Johnnie-O in Georgia.
The five competing Bearcats are Ty Gingerich, Connor McNeely, Ryan Ford, Rylan Wotherspoon and William McDonald.
McNeely remains the top performer with a 71.23 stroke average, one of four to play in every event. Ryan Ford is right behind at 72.48, helped by tying his own school record of a 64 two tournaments ago. He was also 11-under to tie for second in the spring opener.
Gingerich was 7-under in his first two events of the spring, with each remaining his top performances of the year.
Competing teams include Alabama, Ball State, Charlotte, Charleston, Furman, Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, Northern Illinois, Ole Miss, South Alabama, UNC Wilmington and a second Vanderbilt group.
The south course is familiar territory for the Bearcats, playing there last year as William McDonald led the way in a tie for 18th. Gingerich, Ford and Wotherspoon were all in that field as well. UC finished ninth on the heels of sixth in the 2022 event.
