PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference announced Wednesday the selection of University of Cincinnati men's soccer sophomore midfielder David Sanz as second team all-conference.
Picked by the league's head coaches, Sanz (Santander, Spain/IE La Marina) earned the distinction after leading UC with six goals and five assists on the year. His assist mark ranked third in the conference while his goal tally was seventh-best in the AAC. Sanz's 17 points on the year slotted into sixth place in The American.
The sophomore scored the game winner in a 3-1 road upset of No. 19 Bowling Green on Sept. 16. The midfielder also assisted on three match-winning scores in 2017. Of his six scores, three came on free or penalty kicks.
In total this year, the native Spaniard also paced the Bearcats offensive attack with 29 shots, including 15 on goal, while starting every match and logging more than 1,400 minutes of play.
Sanz also garnered league honors multiple times during the season with three conference honor roll selections.
