IRVING, Texas -- The American Athletic Conference men's basketball game between Cincinnati and Houston scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 28 in Houston has been cancelled due to the number of student-athletes available at Houston because of COVID.
The game will be considered a no-contest by the NCAA. As per conference policy and for the purpose of conference standings only, Cincinnati will be awarded a forfeit win and Houston will be assessed a forfeit loss.
In light of the changing public health environment, the conference's athletic directors will meet this week to determine if changes need to be made to the league's current policy.
Cincinnati returns to action Saturday, Jan. 1 at home against Tulane. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. ET.
UPDATE: After further conversation within the AAC office and university athletic directors, future games will be postponements with every intention of being made up. This game, and any others, will be labeled a "no-contest" in both overall and conference records.
