CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati men's golf team, fresh off arguably its best season in program history, has announced its 2022-23 schedule, which begins Sept. 11 at the Badger Invitational.
"This season's schedule is a significant upgrade to past years," head coach Doug Martin said. "We have added six new events with great fields. I expect this group to accept the challenge, and playing great competition will only make us better. Also, the return of the Bearcat Invitational excites me and gives our fans an opportunity to see our kids play and represent UC."
Last year's squad was one of the last teams out of the NCAA Tournament field, but Sam Jean's appearance in the Columbus Regional was the sixth individual bid in school history, and he is back for his fifth and final year.
The season-opening Badger Invitational is also a tournament Jean won last September. UC then hosts the Bearcat Invitational at Coldstream Country Club (Sept. 19-20), an annual tradition minus the previous two years.
The fall continues with the Old Town Collegiate (Wake Forest, Sept. 26-27), Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate (East Tennessee State, Oct. 9-11) and Quail Valley Intercollegiate (Michigan State in Vero Beach, Fla., Oct. 15-16)
UC opens spring play at the Dorado Beach Collegiate in Puerto Rico, its first time leaving the mainland since going to Cabo San Lucas in October 2012. The Bearcats will then head to South Carolina and Georgia for the Colleton River Collegiate and Sea Island Collegiate, respectively, in March.
Mississippi State's Mossy Oak Collegiate (April 3-4) and Vanderbilt's Mason Rudolph Championship (April 10-12) are the Bearcats' final two opportunities before the AAC Championships in Belleair, Fla. (April 21-23).
UC has inked six freshmen as well as Arkansas transfer William McDonald to go with returners Jean, Ty Gingerich and Cole Harris.
