Jean Named Division I PING All-Midwest Region

CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati men's golfer Sam Jean (Greenwood, Indiana/Center Grove) was named Division I PING All-Midwest Region, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Saturday.

CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati men's golfer Sam Jean (Greenwood, Indiana/Center Grove) was named Division I PING All-Midwest Region, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Saturday. 
 
Players across six regions – Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central, and West – earned all-region honors for 2021. Jean was honored along with 25 other student-athletes in the Midwest region. 
 
The junior was a unanimous All-American Athletic Conference selection, Jean played in all seven events for the Bearcats, leading the squad with a 72.71 scoring average over 21 rounds.
 
He saved his best for the end of the season, contending on the final day of the AAC Championship in Brooksville, Florida, finishing in the Top-5 and helping the team jump three spots over the final 18 holes of the tournament, finishing third.
 
Jean was in the hunt for individual medalist honors and had his best event of the season, finishing in a tie for second with a 54-hole total of 8-under-par 208. His finished marked the third-straight AAC Championship with a Bearcats golfer tied for second following Davis Baxter (2018) and Austin Squires (2019). 

Jean's season-best round of 67 came in the second round of the Spartan Collegiate at Sea Island on March 8, 2021. He posted a third-place finish in the event at 6-under par 210.
 
He's the first UC golfer to earn the honor since Austin Squires did it in 2018 and 2019.
