One of UC's top players of the 1940s and the prototype of a productive tight end.
Played on the 1940-41-42 UC teams before entering the service for World War II.
Returned to UC following the war to complete his academic and athletic career.
Captain of the 1946 team that upset defending Big Ten champion Indiana, a game in which he scored a touchdown and kicked a field goal.
Helped UC to a 9-2 record in 1946, capped with an 18-6 win over Virginia Tech in the Sun Bowl, UC's first bowl appearance.
Also lettered in basketball and baseball.
Played 11 seasons in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers, later earning a selection to the all-time Steelers team at tight end.
